Register today to attend Classroom to Community: Collaborating for Human Rights, our fall human rights conference where we’ll again partner with the Professional Issues Conference to present two days of sessions, workshops, plenary sessions and keynotes.
Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11
North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota
We’re excited to once again present two national keynote speakers at this year’s conference!
Dr. James Loewen, a sociologist and author of “Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your High School History Textbook Got Wrong” and “Sundown Towns: A Hidden Dimension of American Racism,” will address our Friday evening reception.
Jessica Pettitt, our Saturday keynote speaker, is a social justice and diversity counselor and facilitator. Referred to as the "Margaret Cho" of Diversity Trainers, Jessica blends politics, humor, identity, and local flair with big city passion and energy through direct, individualized, and interactive conversations.
Jessica is the highlight of our Saturday luncheon, an event held in recognition of National Coming Out Day. This luncheon will also feature a moment of silence for Matthew Shepherd, who died October 12, ten years ago. Event-only tickets will be available to those not attending the full conference. Event-only sponsor tables are also available.
The conference will focus primarily on education issues regarding human rights and gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender, women and youth issues. There will also be sessions dealing with international human rights, homelessness, poverty and Native American issues.
