The Advocates Welcomes Law Protecting Sexually Exploited Children

Minneapolis – The Advocates for Human Rights and The Family Partnership welcome today’s enactment of a new approach to protecting children from sexual exploitation. As part of the negotiated budget agreement, Governor Dayton today signed into law provisions which take significant steps toward building a victim-centered model for protecting children exploited through prostitution.  

Minnesota Governor Vetoes Appropriations Bills; Cites Human Rights Concerns

The Advocates for Human Rights welcomes Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton's vetos of an array of budget bills passed by the Minnesota Legislature. The bills threatened to seriously erode human rights protections in Minnesota. In his veto letters, Governor Dayton cited concerns over many human rights issues raised by the legislation, including due process and non-discrimination. 

Decriminalizing Victims Proposed to Crack-Down on MN Sex Trafficking

DULUTH - 100,000 children are sexually exploited each year in the U.S according to conservative estimates from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

They say it is because of human trafficking.

On Thursday local authorities met to announce they back a new strategy to drastically cut those numbers down.

Minnesota Sex Trafficking Bill Wins Endorsement

This month, Minnesota's Human Trafficking Task Force voted to endorse our legislation to combat child sexual exploitation. The Advocates' Safe Harbors bill won the endorsement of the Human Trafficking Task Force.
